Il primo giocattolo, nato nel 1949, fu il gatto Meo Romeo, seguito nel 1952 dall'ancor più essenziale scimmietta Zizì. E quella che doveva essere una sorta di dimostrazione delle potenzialità di materiale, diventò il prodotto di un "filosofo", come avrebbe detto Pablo Picasso secondo un aneddoto ricorrente.

Il fratello maggiore di Zizì era il gatto Meo Romeo, con cui nel 1949 è iniziata la collaborazione tra Munari e Pirelli-Pigomma. Entrambi interpretano creativamente una conquista tecnologica, rispondendo in modo imprevisto e giocoso alle richieste della clientela. Entrambi sono considerati delle vere e proprie icone del design italiano.
